STATEMENT BY THE OFFICE OF THE FEDERAL PUBLIC DEFENDER FOR THE WESTERN DISTRICT OF WASHINGTON ON THE KILLING OF GEORGE FLOYD
To fulfill the Sixth Amendment guarantee of counsel in criminal cases by providing diligent, zealous and respectful representation at all stages of the criminal proceedings and other related matters.
We also strive to improve the criminal justice system by advocating for changes beneficial to our clients and providing information to the broader community about their constitutional rights and responsibilities and the role of the criminal defense attorney in our society.
To provide education and training for high school, college, law students and lawyers through lectures, internship programs and seminars.
We strive for a client centered collaborative approach, embracing open communication among all staff, exploring new ideas and approaches, and fostering a strong work ethic. Staff and clients are entitled to be treated with respect and dignity.
