Case News

Paralegal Patricia Stordeur, investigator Jennifer Davis and Seattle AFDs Andy Kennedy and Dennis Carroll secured a new trial in King County Superior Court for a client convicted of Assault of a Child in the First Degree in 2009. The defense team discovered that the original attorney had failed to consult with medical experts in this 'shaken baby' case. We filed a state court Personal Restraint Petition which resulted in a remand to King County Superior Court for a reference hearing. After we disclosed our expert reports three months before the reference hearing, the King County Prosecutor's Office agreed that a new trial is warranted and entered into an agreed order, vacating the conviction, and setting a new trial date.
