Seven Generations: Looking Forward to Move Back

This training will be presented by Krystal Koop, MSW, (Makah), a Community Heath Outreach Coordinator and Tribal Liaison for Partnerships for Native Health at Washington State University.

It is an introductory workshop for providers interested in learning more about working with the American Indian/Alaska Native Population.

This workshop will provide practitioners with a brief overview of the historical context of the American Indian/Alaska Native experience, historical trauma and how it affects the population today and in social service settings, and best practices in working with the American Indian/Alaska Native population in culturally mindful and effective ways. The workshop includes small and large group discussions, individual activities and lecture.

A resource guide highlighting Native-centric agencies and programs in King County will also be provided in the training.
